Colours of the Rainbow - Pride Month

Noah
He/him/his
Canton NY/Bronx NY

As a child I was lucky to know of my identity as a trans man from a really young age. However, living in a fundamental Christian household forced me to live in the closet constantly as I knew my health and safety depended on it. Eventually I was outed and was forced to leave home, however, I was blessed to have a supportive extended family that took me in despite barely knowing me.

My experience with a hostile family is sadly similar to many others, but if I could tell my younger self anything, it would be that you are strong enough to withstand the struggles you will have to endure as a result of your identity. I always knew that I would have a negative reaction from my parents but by going through my struggle to be who I am, Noah, I gained a sense of self that I would have never gotten otherwise. In short, if I could tell my younger self anything, it would be that you are strong enough for whatever comes your way, no matter what.
