My Work

My work aims to communicate the intersectionality of race, class, gender, sexuality, and sexual orientation. I analyze the transnational flow of cultures, ideologies, politics, and capital as well as how they link Africans across borders. I work to empower African voices and the African diaspora by telling our stories through our own perspectives which are often underrepresented or misrepresented in mainstream media.

Colours of the Rainbow

Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie once said, “[A] single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.” Quite often in mainstream media African voices are erased. In the rare chance that they are represented, they are misrepresented and stereotyped. The story of Africa has become one of catastrophe, that is, of illness, poverty and famine. However, that is not the only story of our beautiful continent. Colours of the Rainbow aims to rewrite these stereotypes, letting Africans and people of the African diaspora narrate their own stories from their own perspectives. We portray the diverse narratives and cultures from the continent and her children. Like the rainbow has different colours in it, so do we have different stories. Together, that's what makes it beautiful.

Solitude

SOLITUDE - is a collection of writings and poetry written in a state of solitude. This is a collection of thoughts and feelings that have been hidden for years. It is written for every emotion. It is divided into four parts. Initially, it was not going to be divided because who am I to tell you what to read when you're feeling what. But then I thought, there's no harm in a little guidance. So here you go: On love, On loss and loneliness, On being a woman, On being Black. Some intersect with each other. Naturally.
